@filmbymashael , @ohhitschristinee , and i created this series to call attention to the rising number of racially motivated attacks during this COVID-19 outbreak. despite that travel between China and the US ceased January 31 , people continue to incorrectly assume those of Asian ethnic descent are the sole carriers of the virus—acting out in irrational and xenophobic ways. but the fact of the matter is no one race is responsible. we all have to do our part to prevent this terrifying spread. COVID-19 doesn’t discriminate and—just because it originated somewhere—neither should we. support small Asian businesses. share on social media. speak up if you see shit happening irl. it takes a village , but don’t forget that every voice counts. #iamnotavirus #jenesuispasunvirus #asianart #asianamerican #representationmatters

— #jenesuispasunvirus #jaimemonresto #jaimemonchinatown #pho #paris13 #quartierasiatique #soutien

My Chinese dentist in Ohio gifted me some nice surgical masks , but she advised that I wear it with caution in public as it would attract fear and hatred. “We’re very unpopular right now.” Sad that she has to worry about that aspect on top of the virus. There are zero cases in Ohio , but her clinic is completely empty. With cases appearing in NYC and the US in general , here’s to hoping people realize that we’re all on the same boat now and treat each other respectfully (and wash their hands). Ssank yu! ✌️ Oh , and like Happy belated Valentine’s Day I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️ - 📸 @jaredblajian

Feat. I Am Not A Virus . . It‘s rough to be asian nowadays. I don‘t feel great in public spaces. Consistent high key racist harassment and violence really sucks. . . @fungifung 2 be seen through your eyes - thank you for making me feel so beautiful and empowered 💕💕 #asian #ichbinkeinvirus #iamnotavirus #jenesuispasunvirus #vietnam #vietnamese #subtleasiantraits #gegenrassismus

I am Asian-American. I am Chinese-American. I am not a virus... I am proud to continue celebrating the Lunar New Year festivities as they wrap up this week at Disney California Adventure , but I wanted to use this platform to address and make aware about the anti-Asian racism and xenophobia that has spread stemming from the fear of the Coronavirus. #iamnotavirus #jenesuispasunvirus • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advised people not to panic about the coronavirus and against stereotyping people. “Do not assume that if someone is of Asian descent , they have coronavirus.” In addition , not all Asians are Chinese. Not all Chinese people were born in China or even been to China. An Asian who coughs does not mean they have coronavirus. The culture of some Asian populations wearing face-masks stems back to as early as the beginning of the 20th Century and is a staple of East Asian fashion. Just because you see an Asian wearing a face-mask , doesn’t mean they have coronavirus. • We must challenge the racialization in the coronavirus outbreak and learn from the history of the 2003 SARS outbreak and its effect on the Asian-American community. It is important to distinguish medical precautions from racist and discriminatory behaviors. “Diseases don’t discriminate along racial lines — but too often people do.” • Some schools , including in the local news recently about San Gabriel Valley , have been affected by petitions or community-imposed sanctions to close that are not based on any official medical advisory or government body. In addition , other Asian-owned small businesses and Asian communities are being impacted with decreased income and traffic. • It’s important to note that so far , 12 cases are confirmed in the US , but none have died. In contrast , the flu has killed about 10 ,000 Americans since October. • Thus , I will continue to eat my Asian foods and snacks ,and frequent my favorite Asian eateries and businesses. Even DCA will continue to offer Asian foods for the Lunar New Year and Asian people will continue to go to Disneyland. Don’t let the hysteria ruin the magic.✨ • 📷: @magicbymuses #asianstory #representasian #happiestdentist #disneygram

#JeNeSuisPasUnVirus #imnotavirus #STOPauRacisme #racismeantiasiatique #nonjugement #bienveillance #covid #covid19 #covid2019 #covid_19
