BBQ meat and papaya salad make a delicious combo. 🌶😋💦⁣ ⁣ ⁣Why do I love papaya salad so much⁣ ⁣ When I was a child living in the Chiang Kham #refugee camp in Thailand , papaya salad was one of my favorite foods to eat. It was cheap and abundant; it was what I can afford. Whenever my parents can afford to give me a baht , I’d rushed to the farmer’s market that was a few minutes away to buy some. I remember I’d always buy it from this one Hmong lady , because she made it the best — just the way I like it! So , that’s where my love for papaya salad began. Today , I’m thankful that I can make my own to enjoy and to be able to share some with friends and family. Eating papaya salad reminds me of my humble beginnings.⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣Follow me for delicious papaya salad pics. These are some of my own homemade papaya salad dishes that I made for myself , friends and family.⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ #papayasaladlover #papayasalad #thaifood #laofood #mienfood #khmerfood #hmongfood #food #foodporn #migrationology #laofoodmovement #hmongkitchen #thummakhoong #lao #thai #hmong #khmer #thailand #laos #cambodia #iumiennetwork #iumien #buzzfeedfood #beautifulcuisines #eeeeeats #likeforlikes #asianfoodrecipes #somtam

The bride and groom with the bride’s elders in their traditional #mien clothing in honor of preserving their culture. . In the Mien culture , all the bride’s side of the family are called “Cing Jaa” who are considered honored guests of the wedding ceremony. They are personally invited to participate and bless the couple in their new lives together. In the olden days , the ceremonies were much smaller and only those closely related to the bride would be invited to sit and eat while the groom’s side of the family cooked and served. This serves as a thank you to the bride’s side of the family because after the wedding , she would belong to her husband’s side of the family. . In the modern day , traditions are changing and everyone’s presence is much appreciated and most brides do not have to leave her family to be wedded. #meetthemccains #070718 📷 @angelathaophotography
